Buri (yellowtail) has since Edo times been delivered from Toyama Bay via the Buri -kaido Road to Hida Takayama. The voyage is a 90km walk. To this day Hida Takayama, despite being a mountain town eats more Buri per person than any other town in Japan leading some people to mistakenly believe there is an ocean in Hida.
