Nishiizu
Nishi Izu is a veritable paradise for kayak fishing. At some points, a 30-minute paddle from the beach will take you out to waters nearly 150m deep. The target species include non-migratory seabed fish such as grouper, large migratory fish such as mahi-mahi and yellowtail, and high-end catches such as sea perch and red sea bream. This allows anglers to target fish that normally are not easily approached by recreational fishing boats, all while staying in short range of shore. The splendid precipitous cliffs that are typical of the Izu Peninsula coupled with the view of Mount Fuji over Suruga Bay will spark one’s adventurous spirit.
