A new Miyakojima industry starts here<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n


\u201cI returned because I want to be someone who can help shape the future of this island,\u201d Oshiro shares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coming back to Miyakojima immediately after graduating from university drew some concern from those around him, who wondered, \u201cAre you sure it\u2019s not too soon?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve wanted to give back to the island since high school. When I was a kid, my dad often took me bug-hunting, but now there are far fewer places on the island where you can see wildlife. That concern, along with my love for the island, made me decide to dedicate myself to its future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oshiro is currently working on establishing a distillery, aiming to create a new industry for his homeland. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After work, he often finds himself by the quiet sea with a fishing rod in hand, pondering about the island\u2019s future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m working on creating an industry that not only complements Awamori but can also thrive on a national and global scale. My goal is to bring together friends who are chasing their own dreams and build something that truly showcases Miyakojima\u2019s unique charm\u2014not just as part of Okinawa, but as a destination with its own identity.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second phase of the Miyako Island Twuriba District project<\/strong>

The second phase of the Miyako Island Twuriba District project is underway, with a new facility called CANOPY produced by Hilton Okinawa Miyako Island Resort, set to open in spring 2026. In addition to the hotel, plans are in motion to develop a lively complex of four two-story buildings, designed for both locals and tourists, including visitors not staying at the hotel. The new facility will also house a distillery, creating a vibrant space for gathering and enjoyment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
