The \u201cKATSUO TRAIL\u201d is a 205-kilometer long-distance trail that runs the length of Shizuoka Prefecture. PAPERSKY is pleased to announce the \u201cKATSUO TRAIL Exhibition & PAPERSKY STORE,\u201d an exhibition introducing the trail and its philosophy, to be held at \u201chugcoffee,<\/a>\u201d the museum shop and caf\u00e9 located within the Shizuoka City Museum of History.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cKATSUO TRAIL<\/a>\u201d is a 205-kilometer loop route with 6,150 meters of elevation gain, connecting Yaizu City in Shizuoka Prefecture to Kawane-Honcho at the southern tip of the Southern Alps. Along the way, it passes through tea-producing regions and historic post towns that have long served as hubs of human activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trail is being developed and maintained by PAPERSKY and the General Incorporated Association DO lab. This initiative also represents an attempt to view Shizuoka not as a collection of \u201cpoints,\u201d but as a single region connected by geography, industry, and history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

At the core of this trail lies the concept of \u201cTrail Learning.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Walking, running, cycling\u2014moving through the land using one\u2019s body is viewed not merely as a means of transportation, but as a \u201cmethod of learning.\u201d By moving under your own power, the landscape and culture of the land emerge not as information but as an experience, and the time spent walking side by side fosters dialogue and introspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The venue features a large map offering a bird\u2019s-eye view of the entire 205-kilometer route, displays comparing the walking and cycling routes, as well as photographs and video materials. It also introduces the tea culture, river culture, and coastal industries rooted in the Oi River basin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A special talk session will be held on 1 pm to 3 pm of June 5. Speakers will include Lucas B.B., Editor-in-Chief of PAPERSKY; Yasuhiro Taguchi, Representative of 3710Lab and Specially Appointed Lecturer at the Graduate School of Education, University of Tokyo; and Hideyuki Kurihara of the Kawanehonmachi Town Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, on June 27, an open walk event is scheduled to take place along Section 6 of the trail, the \u201cOi River: Mountains and Tea Corridor.\u201d The planned itinerary includes touring tea fields and mountain villages in the upper Oi River basin, with a stop to ride a steam locomotive along the way. This is an experiential \u201cTrail Learning\u201d program designed to help participants get to know the region through walking and travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Katsuo Trail is a 205-kilometer loop route with 6,150 meters of elevation gain, starting in Yaizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and passing through Shizuoka City, Fujieda City, and Shimada City before ending in Kawanehonmachi at the southern tip of the Southern Alps. It connects the rich natural landscapes from Suruga Bay to the Southern Alps, allowing visitors to enjoy the changing scenery as it transitions from the sea to the mountains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
