Kochi prefecture will be the destination for the Spring edition of Papersky’s Tour de Nippon. Kochi is a destination that feels “Just Right”. A perfect mix of food and sake will have you gulping in delight. Henro Pilgrimage routes ensure all roads lead to other worlds. And Kochi’s crystal clear rivers help nourish the plants Japan’s premier naturalist Tomitaro Makino so loved.

We are now taking sign ups at  [email protected]  for Papersky’s Tour de Nippon in Kochi. The event will take place on 3/20 (Friday) and 3/21 (Saturday). Papersky’s Tour de Nippon project is about finding the magic of Japan’s rural districts, their inhabitants, nature, culture and food. Each ride travels to various prefectures to ride bicycles, eat local food and meet the ‘real’ people of the area. This upcoming ride will take us to Shikoku’s Kochi Prefecture.

DATE: 3/20 (Friday) & 3/21 (Saturday)
EVENT NAME: Heavenly Blue in Kochi
PLACE: Kochi Prefecture in the Shikoku area


FEATURING:
Day 1 (3/20) // Henro Hike and Kochi ‘Kanpai!’ Dinner
* a light 3km Hike along the ancient Ohenro Pilgrimage route.
* a guided botanical tour of the Makino Tomitaro’s gardens.
* afternoon tea
* a fresh and local Kochi feast at the famous Kusaya restaurant. Guest chef Arimoto Kurumi joins the Kusaya staff to bring new twists and turns to Kochi’s culinary lineup.

Day 2 (3/21) // Riverside Ride & Kayak
*Cycling along the Niyodo River, Japan’s clearest rivers.
*Exciting Bridge crossings over Kochi’s famous “Chinkai Bridges’
*BBQ lunch at Snow Peak’s new Niyodo River Campground
*A final paddle to the finish via Kayak down the Niyodo River.

3/21 (Sat.) – Day 2 / Riverside Ride & Kayak
START TIME & MEETING PLACE:8:50 @ JR Sagawa Station (Takaoka-gun Sagawa-cho)
FINISH TIME & ENDING LOCATION:
4:30pm @ JR Ino Station (Shinmachi, Ino-cho, Yodogawa-gun)

DISTANCE: 40km (+ kayak – 3km)
COST: 18,000 YEN /// Includes: Cycling course and guide, kayak experience, lunch, snacks, support car, insurance fee and special goodie bag from our supporters.
* If you wish to reserve a bicycle for the ride we can arrange that for an additional 3,000 yen.

*The cost of the Papersky’s Tour de Nippon does NOT INCLUDE TRANSPORTATION (flights, cars, trains, ferries) from the participant’s house to the starting point and from the finish point back to the participant’s house. All transportation must be self-booked.
