A PAPERSKY Trip Around The World
Lucas BB, 2002/06/25
To circumnavigate the globe: centuries after Magellan, it’s still the dreamer’s dream, an offense to commonsense, a luxury that only time and an insane commitment can buy. Sure, there are people who are doing it, by plane or boat or bicycle ride. But chances are, those people are not you. Instead, you are probably sitting at a desk or on a sofa, watching images and filtering information piped in from around the world into your homebound lap. So until you find corporate sponsorship for your long-distance hot air balloon, try a change of perspective. Grab a photo here, a story there, from the river of data flowing through your living room. Piece them together, follow them back to the source, and you’ve already embarked on your dream trip. So let’s get going!
